RUSH A. THOMAS RITES TO BE HELD SATURDAY
Rush A. Thomas, 66, widely known Cameron business man, died at King's Daughters Hospital in Temple, at 4:00 a. m. Friday, March 10, 1950.
Mr. Thomas had been ill for some time, recently entering a Dallas hospital for surgery. Upon his return to his home in Cameron he was convalsecing but his condition became more critical some ten days before his death. Mr. Thomas was best known for his operation of the George A. Thomas & Sons Drug Store in Cameron, established in 1890 by his father, the late George A. Thomas.
Following the death of the late George A. Thomas, in association with his brother, the late Monta Thomas, they took over this famous store and maintained it's services which has been a part of the moving scene and great progress that came to Central Texas and Cameron during the colorful half century and more that began with it's establishment 60 years ago.
The late George A. Thomas, father of the deceased was a native of England. He came to America and in time settled at Franklin in Robertson County. At that time Robertson County was pre-eminent in progress and development stemming from early Texas Colonial times. In the mean time Cameron established in 1846 was becoming the Commercial capital of a vast area of rich lands and settlement in Central Texas. Mr. Thomas moved with his family to Cameron in 1890.
