FINAL RITES SCHEDULED SUNDAY FOR MRS. GEORGE A. THOMAS, 92
Mrs. George A. Thomas, 92 passed away at her home on East 23rd Street, Friday, November 16, 1951.
Mrs. Thomas had been seriously ill for the past several months. Although her condition was known to be critical, her many friends over the city and county were sorrowed to learn of her death.
A member of a well known and prominent family, she had lived in Cameron for the past 60 years. She was the widow of the late George A. Thomas, founder and for many years the owner of the George A. Thomas Drug Store.
Mrs. Thomas was a native of Robertson County, born at Franklin, January 29, 1859. Daughter of the late Dr. and Elizabeth Moore who were among the early prominent settlers in that section of the state.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Rush A. Thomas and Monte Thomas, both of whom were leading business men in Cameron for many years.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church and for many years was active in the woek and activities of her church. Her christian character was a true example of the kindness and her devotion to her family and friends will long be remembered. Always a good neighbor, she found joy in helping someone. Her role in the history of the city and county has been stamped upon the annals of time.
Those who knew her best loved her for her generosity and her heritage will realize the value of one who has been truly a good American. She loved her country and her forefathers were among some of the early settlers in this country.
Funeral services were scheduled at the First Baptist Church, at 3:00 P. M., Sunday, November 18, with Dr. P. A. Corkern, pastor officiating.
Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery with Marek-Burns Funeral Home making the arrangements.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Triggs, Miss Clara Thomas and the following grandchildren: Hilliard Thomas, Mrs. Viola Ford, Albert Triggs, Jr., Montague Triggs, George William Triggs, Walter Joe Thomas, Sarah Moore Sears and Gertrude Brannon. Among other survivors are: Mrs. Emma McDermott, Mrs. Juan-ita Young, Mrs. Elaine Hoffson and Mrs. Tom Lee.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
