J. P. LOONEY

Funeral services for J. P. Looney, age 73 years were held at the Friendship church Wednesday afternoon, April 2 with Rev. Chapman, pastor of the Methodist church at Buckholts, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Gregory, also of Buckholts.
Mr. Looney died Tuesday afternoon April 1, at his home in the Friendship community. He was born in Louisiana, but he moved to Milam County, Texas, during his early boyhood and had lived here ever since. His wife died about ten years ago.
Mr. Looney was a member of the Milam County Bar. He was a former Justice of the Peace in his precinct, and at one time was county surveyor of this county. A member of the Methodist church, he took an active part in the religious life of his community. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Mr. Looney is survived by one son, Graham Looney, with whom he made his home at Friendship; two brothers James Looney of Honolulu and R. H. Looney of Colorado City, Texas; and one sister, Mrs. Frank Graham who lives in Sharpe. The only out of town relatives present for the funeral was a niece, Mrs. King, of Huntsville.
Interment was in the Friendship cemetery. Pall bearers were as follows: Ross McQuary, Dave Fowler, J. D. Shelton, John Shelton, Carrol Adams and Hiram Walker.
