Services for Mildred Caldwell Thomas, 83, of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Slaton First Baptist Church with Cleve Kerby officiating.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

She died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002.

She was born April 20, 1919, in Trenton. She moved to the Slaton and Wilson area in 1924 from Grayson County and graduated from Wilson High School in 1938 where she participated in basketball for four years. She was a booster of Slaton Tigerettes Basketball and Tiger Band.

She married Ed Caldwell on Jan. 21, 1939, in Slaton. He died Feb. 3, 1984. She married Jud Thomas on Nov. 10, 1990, in Slaton. He died Aug. 24, 1999.

She was a licensed practical nurse and worked in the medical practices of Dr. John Locke, Dr. Jay McSween and Dr. S.H. Jaynes. She also was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Slaton Daughters of the Pioneer Study Club and Slaton Garden Club.

She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter on April 28, 1973.

Survivors include two sons, Don of Slaton and Richard of Montgomery; three daughters, Judy Davis of Plano and Joanne Lancaster and Jacque Davidson, both of Slaton; a brother, Lynn Perdue of Slaton; two sisters, Alpha Sloan and Faye Caldwell, both of Slaton; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
