Alvian "Red" Dawson
January 12, 1929 - July 10, 2018
Alvian W. "Red" Dawson passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Sugarland, Texas.
He was born January 12, 1929 in Edgemont, South Dakota to Mickey Johnathan and Orris Velma (Carroll) Dawson. He married Betty Shaw on September 2, 1950 at Calvary Baptist Church, Borger.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Borger and of the Elks Lodge.
Until his retirement, he was employed as a Quality Technician for Mason Hanger.
Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his precious wife, Betty.
His survivors include 2 sons: Mark Dawson of Fritch and Dane Dawson and wife Michele of Missouri City, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Ashley Keeney and husband Jim of Borger, Kane Dawson of Amarillo and Allie Burback and husband Bradley of Tyler, Texas; 5 great grandchildren: Korbin Keeney, Ansley Dawson, Liberty Keeney, J.D. Keeney and Breanna Moore.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains, Borger. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Borger.
Funeral Home hours for Mr. Dawson will be on Saturday, July 14 from Noon - 6 PM and Sunday, July 15, from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains.
Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Borger.

Obituary for Betty
Betty Dawson, 81, of Borger, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Betty Sue (Shaw) Dawson was born Wednesday, December 17, 1930 in Maud, OK to Pauline (Pollard) and James Shaw. Betty Shaw married Red Dawson on September 2, 1950 in Borger, TX. Betty was a secretary for Cominco American/Agrium US Inc. She was vice president of Pantex Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and served for over eighteen years. She also was an instructor/trainer for the American Heart Association. She was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club, Beta Sigma Phi. Betty sang in the choir at her church for many years and was involved in Children's choir. She was chairman of the remodeling committee at First Baptist Church for the parlor, fellowship hall and the chapel. Betty took great pride in this endeavor. She also was a volunteer for Hutchinson County Library for the reading program. Betty was a member of several bridge clubs and she loved them like her own family. Betty and Red loved square dancing and were involved in Fantasia Dance Club. Betty loved her family dearly and was involved in everything that they did.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joyce McLaughlin in 1996 and Vanetta Chambliss in 1993; and one brother, Cal Shaw in 2010.
Survivors include her husband, A.W. "Red" Dawson; sons, Dane Dawson and wife Missy of Missouri City, TX and Mark Dawson and Kathy of Rockdale, TX; brother, W.R. Shaw of Duncan, OK; sister in law, Madge Shaw of Borger, TX; "other son" Tracy Eberting and wife Lily of Stinnett, TX; three grandchildren, Ashley Dawson-Keeney and husband James of Borger, TX, Kane Dawson of Amarillo, TX and Allie Dawson of Stinnett, TX; four great grandchildren, Ansley Kate Dawson of Borger, TX, Liberty Keeney of Borger, TX, J.D. Keeney of Borger and Breanna Moore of Virginia Beach, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Borger, TX with Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Dawson will lie in state at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger on Monday, May 14, 2012 and Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Memorial may be made to Friends of the Library, 625 Weatherly, Borger, Texas 79007.
