WATSON, Kimball Stuart Fort Worth- Kimball (Kim) Stuart Watson, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, in Fort Worth after a short illness. Memorial service: Celebrating his life, a memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, with reception to follow at River Crest Country Club, 1501 Western Ave. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church; UT Southwestern Medical Foundation, 3889 Maple Ave. #100, Dallas, Texas 75219; or a charity of your choice. Kim was born in Chicago on Aug. 7, 1929, to James and Clara Meissner Watson. After growing up in Mt. Carmel, Ill., he graduated as salutatorian from Mt. Carmel High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and debate. He then studied petroleum engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, piloting his own Ercoupe 2-seater airplane to and from Illinois. At UT he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Texas Cowboys (Foreman, 1951), The Friar Society, Goodfellows, and was co-chairman of Varsity Carnival. He married Carolyn Munday of Amarillo, in 1951, mother to his daughters, Leigh and Claire. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1953 to 1955, then moved to Amarillo. There he served as a deacon and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church, and was a member of Rotary International. He was active in oil and gas and real estate ventures there from 1955 until 1968, when he moved to Dallas. In 1977 he met and married Miriam Croley Botts, and they lived in Dallas until her death in 2001. In 2003, he became reacquainted with Bertha (Bea) Clayton McCall, a friend for more than 50 years, and they married on the Green Ranch in Albany, Texas. They enjoyed home, family, travel, art, books, music, photography, fishing, and all of their numerous and wonderful friends. Kim had avid interests in flying, getting licensed at age 17, water and snow skiing, yachting, both competitive sailing and cruising, golf and fishing. In Dallas, he was active in real estate development and was senior vice president and manager of apartment development for Vantage Companies. In 1988, he joined Greystone Communities as an original partner and senior vice president of development, managing Greystone's development activities leading to development of more than 100 senior living communities across the United States such as The Edgemere in Dallas and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth before retiring in 2005. He actively supported the University of Texas at Austin as a member of the School of Information Advisory Council, The Littlefield Society, The President's Associates, and the Chancellor's Council. He served on the Board of Medical Arts Hospital-Dallas, and on the Executive Board of SMU Central Libraries. He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church. He was a wonderful and loving husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. The family thanks Dr. Robert Kelly and his staff, the third-floor nursing staff at The Stayton at Museum Way, and Marta Lara for their help and care. Survivors: Wife, Bea; daughters, Leigh Watson Healy and her husband, John Healy, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Claire Watson Laub and her husband, Stephen Laub, of Water Mill, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Botts, of Austin; daughters, Kim Anderson of Santa Fe, N.M., Cathryn Seymour Dorsey and her husband, Bronson Dorsey of Austin, Shelly Seymour Kennedy and her husband, Bud Kennedy of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Katherine Anne Botts and Shannon Healy; grandsons, Owen Laub, Keaton Laub, Beau Anderson and his wife, Helen, Andrew Dorsey and Clayton Dorsey; great-grandchildren, Trey and Ashlyn Anderson; sister-in-law, Ellen Watson of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; brother-in-law, Robert Click of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews.
