Perry Edwin Ratliff
August 25, 1937 - April 1, 2017
Perry Edwin Ratliff passed from this earth peacefully on April 1, 2017 at 79 years of age. “P. E.” or “Ed” was born in Montague County just outside of Dallas Texas to William Clayton and Audrey (Yarbrough) Ratliff on August 25, 1937.
He moved with his family to the Borger area when he was in first grade and graduated from Borger High School in 1955. In 1956, he began working for Sante Fe Railroad as a switchman. During his 44 years with the railroad he worked as an engine foreman, yardmaster, brakeman, and conductor. On June 9th, 1957 he married Donna Jean Fauske.
Perry loved hunting, fishing, marksmanship of the gun, watching John Wayne movies and “Gunsmoke” as well as playing with his beloved grandkids and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife, Donna Jean Ratliff; parents, William Clayton and Audrey Yarbrough Ratliff; daughter Kimberly Eileen; stepfather, Charles Darnell and a brother, Henry Ratliff.
He is survived by his children: Daniel Ratliff, of Borger, TX, Catherine (Larry) Wills, of Wendell, NC, Tamra (Jim) Bush, of Raleigh, NC, and Timothy (Marilyn) Ratliff, of Bloomfield, IA; brothers: Butch Ratliff, of Borger, TX, Ray Ratliff, of Independence, MO, Eldon Ratliff of Amarillo, TX and Bill Ratliff of MO; a sister, Clara Willis of McClain TX; sister-in-laws: Lois (Richard) Whisennand of Buda, TX, and Janice Sall of Chico, CA; grandchildren: Heather, Jennifer, Lance, Chelsea, Bailey and Kendall ; great grandchildren: Kevin, Brodie, Alexander, Madilyn, Jackson and Caylee; and lots of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC, on Wednesday, April 5, at 5:00 PM. The family will have visitation at Brown’s Chapel of The Fountains on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 1:00-6:00 PM. Graveside service will be held on Monday, April 10,2017 at 11:00 AM at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Borger, TX. Perry will be laid to rest next to his wife of almost 50 years, Donna Jean, and his daughter, Kimberly.

Donna Jean Ratliff, born April 2, 1940, has passed from this world on Jan 26, 2007, after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sig and Everal Fauske, and her brother, Larry Fauske, a daughter Kimberly Eileen Ratliff. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Perry Edwin Ratliff, and her children Dan Ratliff of Borger, TX, Cathy Wills and husband, Larry, of Wendell, NC, Tamra Bush, and husband, Jim, of Raleigh, NC, and Tim Ratliff and wife Marilyn of Milton Iowa. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois Whisennand and husband Richard of Austin, TX, and Janice Sall of Chico, CA., 7 grandchildren: Heather Maroney, Jennifer Geisendaffer, Lance Wills, Chelsea Wills, Bailey Bush, Kendall Bush and Kari Naill, 5 great grandchildren Kevin Maroney, Brodie Maroney, Alex Whitman, Madilyn Whitman and Jackson Geisendaffer, mother in law, Audrey Darnell and husband Charles, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
She leaves a void for her co-workers and students in the special education department of Plainview High School where she taught for 8 years. She loved teaching Art and Spanish in the area for 17 years. Donna Ratliff was a wife and mother who taught her children to love, live and enjoy life and the arts. She was a teacher who had a tremendous talent for working with children and young adults, always exhibiting unlimited patience and compassion and always striving to improve the quality of life for those she worked with. She was also a talented artist and a trustworthy and loyal friend. Whenever someone you love becomes a memory - The memory becomes a treasure. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Casket Bearers will be Dan Ratliff, Tim Ratliff, Larry Wills, Lance Wills, Jim Bush and Chris Logan.
Services will be held Tuesday Jan 30th 11:00 a.m. at Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Stegall, Grace Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
