Funeral services for Virgil Simpson, 62, of 1200 Roberts, who died Friday of injuries in an explosion and fire last week, were held at 2:30 p.m. today in the First Assembly of God Church.

The Rev. H.C. Eslinger, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral directors.

Simpson was injured Aug. 23 in Mobeetie. He was transferred to John Sealy Memorial Hospital in Galveston where he died at 11:52 p.m. Friday.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, four brother, seven sisters, and 12 grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Bob Lee, Dean Williams, Tex Hanna, Don Brown, Gene Brown and Bill Knight.

Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. Calvin O. Wiley, Harold Stockton, Wilbur Ogilvie, and Marcus Adair.

Alleen Simpson, 76, Borger, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1993 in her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Calvin Newton, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

A native of Batesville, Ark., she had been a Borger resident for 54 years. She was a homemaker and dispatcher for Groendyke Trucking.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she was the organist since 1963. She was a member of the Womens Missionary Council, Sunday school teacher and youth sponsor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Simpson in 1974.

Survivors include four sons, Allen Simpson of Amarillo; Nealby Simpson of Borger; Rossie Simpson of San Antonio; and Gail Simpson of Pflugerville; a sister, Willene Hughes of Spearman; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be H.H. Barrett, George Grover, Mike Lemon, Gerald McKay, Terry Maxwell, and Dean Williams.
