Joyce Edwards, 83, of Slaton was born June 9, 1929, near Seagraves in Gaines County. She died Aug. 30, 2012. She grew up in Seagraves, where she attended school. Joyce married Emmett Andrew Edwards on Nov. 6, 1943, in Lubbock. They were a farming family in Seagraves and in Wilson, where they moved in 1959. They also ranched in Missouri and in Oklahoma. Joyce moved to Slaton in 1976 after Andrew's death in 1976. Joyce has also been preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Her survivors include her children, Wayne Edwards, Linda McCain and Sherry Vallejo, along with five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at the funeral home today, Aug. 31, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in Englunds Chapel with burial in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
