Funeral services for William B. Ames, 61, 1312 Patton Circle, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Minton Memorial Chapel with Father Arturo Meza, associate pastor of St. John's Catholic Church, officiating.
He died 2:51 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.
A native of Hornell, N.Y., he had been a Borger resident for 37 years. He was a retired chemist for Phillips Petroleum Co., and a self-employed gunsmith. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and Meredith Gun Club. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-1949.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; three sons, Michael Ames of Liberal, Kan.; Patrick Ames and Dennis Ames, both of Borger; three daughters, Mary C. Elliott of Salt Lake City, Utah, Barbara Annette Ames and Polly Lambert, both of Borger; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ames of Tahlequah, Okla.; one brother, John R. Ames of Springfield, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice or Ronald McDonald's House.
The family will be staying at 217 Veta.
Pallbearers will be Larry Porter, Don Sanders, Gerald Kraai, Adrian Kunce, Jr., and Mike Ames.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
