BORGER - A ruling of accidental shooting in the death of Calvin Gilchrest, 24, was issued Wednesday by Justice of the Peace Sam Watson.
Gilchrest was dead on arrival Friday at North Plains Hospital after being shot once in the chest.
Police Chief Arthur Waight said witnesses to the shooting, which occurred at a Borger motel, said Gilchrest and a companion, Jackie Woods, 22, had been "fooling around" with a .38-caliber revolver when the weapon discharged.
Services for Gilchrest were held Monday in the Bible Baptist Church here.
Woods, who was reportedly suffering from shock, has been transferred to a Colorado veterans hospital for treatment, Waight said.
