Borger News Herald - May 15, 1994

Willie Gilchrest, 66, Borger, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, 1994 in Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bible Baptist Church in Borger with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

A native of Memphis, Texas, he had been a Borger resident for 57 years. He was a construction foreman, and member of Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of the home; three sons, Cecil Lee Gilchrest of Fort Townson, Okla.; two brothers, Jack Gilchrest, and Melvin Gilchrest, both of Borger; a sister, Faye McClanahan of Fort Townson, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

TUTTLE, Okla. - Bobbie Lou Braddock Gilchrest, 79, formerly of Borger, Texas, died Saturday, April 4, 2009.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., in Amarillo, Texas.

Mrs. Gilchrest was born June 15, 1929, in Lesley, Texas, to Bessie and Calvin Braddock. She married Willie Cecil Gilchrest Jr. on Feb. 1, 1947, in Memphis, Texas, and they moved to Borger in 1949, where she was a resident for 47 years. She was a member of the Baptist church.

Bobbie was a homemaker. After raising her children, she worked 20 years at the Borger Nursing Center.

She moved to Oklahoma in 1996 to be near her children and grandchildren. At the time of her death, Bobbie was a resident at the Tuttle Care Center. She was active at the center and made many close friends with the residents and staff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Cecil Gilchrest, in 1994; two sons, Calvin in 1972 and Timothy in 2004; a daughter, Linda, in 1972; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil Gilchrest and wife Carla of Tuttle and Bobby Gilchrest of Waco, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
