George M. Parkhurst, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors.
Mr. Parkhurst was born May 26, 1921, and was a native of Delaware, Okla. He had been a Borger resident for 64 years and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a retired welder for J.M. Huber Corp. and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roxie Mae Parkhurst, one son, Danny George Parkhurst and two brothers, Ernest Parkhurst and Clifford Parkhurst.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; one step-son, Ronald Pearson of Temple; one daughter, Pam Campbell of Borger; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild and eight great-grandchildren.
