Services for R.B. "Bob" Takewell, 76, of of [sic] 1000 Pennsylvania, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert Presnall, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mr. Takewell died at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Boulder, Colo.

A native of Union Parish, La., he had been a Borger resident since 1929.

He was a retired executive vice president at J.M. Huber Corp. He organized Frist [sic] Savings and Loan Company and was a director. He was a directors at First National Bank and past director at Panhandle Bank & Trust and Borger Country Club. He was one of the first directors of the Borger Hotel.

Mr. Takewell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

He was inventor of a number of items used in the manufacture of carbon black, which was patented by J.M. Huber. He started work for Huber Jan. 28, 1924, and retired Sept. 30, 1971.

He was also organizer of the Borger Gassers baseball team.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou in 1974.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Rosall of Boulder, Colo., and Mrs. Diane Baruffi of Bellevue, Wash.; one sister; two brothers; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Takewell, 59, of 1000 Penn Ave., in Borger, who died at 9 p.m. Friday in Amarillo, are planned for 11 a.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Robert E. Presnall officiating.

Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Takewell had lived in Borger since 1929 and was born in Columbus, Ohio. She was active in Girl Scouts and the Golf Association.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Sharon Purvis of Boulder, Colo, and Diane Baruffi, Bellevue, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Baker, Dr. M.M. Stephens, Bob Johnson, Al Hahn, Joe Rives, and Claude Balir [sic].

Minton Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
