*Obituary
The community was saddened last week by the death of a beloved pioneer resident, Mrs. J.P. Green. Death came to her about 1:00 o'clock Friday, Sept. 13 near Panhandle while she was en route from Amarillo to her home.

Funeral services were conducted at the Wheeler Methodist church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.

John A. English, former pastor, and Rev. Hugh H. Hunt, pastor, in charge. The order of the last rites was: hymn, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," scripture and prayer by Rev. Hunt; hymn, "Near the Cross,"; obituary and eulogy by Reverend English; special solo, "An Evening Prayer," by Frank Wofford; sermon, Reverend Hunt and recessional, Mrs. T.M. Britt.

Interment was made in the Wheeler Cemetery with Hunt Funeral Home in charge.

Mary Rose Holt, the daughter of E.E. Holt and Elizabeth Tennison Holt, was born July 8, 1875. She was married to James Pinkney Green on June 7, 1898, at the First Methodist church at Roby, Texas. She and her husband joined the Roby Methodist church soon after they were married.

The family moved to Wheeler county in 1905 and has resided here since.

Mrs. Green was preceeded in death by two of her children, James Watne [sic] who died in 1916, and by Woodie E., who died in 1936.

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Stanley Pinkney, Joe Holt, Samuel Bronson, Roe Harmon, Ray Morris, Helen Rose and Annie May. She is survived by eight grand children.

After moving to Wheeler in 1905, the family united with the First Methodist church here to which Mrs. Green belonged at her death and of which she has been a faithful loyal member.
