Maggie Lillian Roper, 92, passed away at her home Wednesday, February 25, 1970, at 8:15 P.M.

Mrs. Roper was born September 12, 1877 at Birmingham, Alabama. Her fathers name was Rufus Young and her mother was the former Rebecca Elizabeth Knight. She was married to John Burler [sic] Roper at Henderson, Texas.

Mrs. Roper had lived in Wheeler County for 51 years. Mr. Roper passed away in 1940.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wheeler for 50 years.

Mrs. Roper is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Hazel Parks of Wheeler, Mrs. Lorene Errington of Wheeler, Mrs. Ruby Lummus of North Hollywood, Calif., 1 son, Gordon Roper of Dallas, 2 step-daughters, Mrs. J.E. Willard of Wheeler, Mrs. Lela Wilson of Wheeler, 1 step-son, Charlie Roper of Wheeler, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 daughters, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Services were in the United Methodist Church of Wheeler Friday, February 27, 1970, at 10:30 A.M. Minister Wilbur Gaede officiated. Burial services were in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright-Denson Funeral Home.

Pall bearers were Harry Wofford, Leon Fillingim, Terrell Gunter, Clarence Robison, Thurman Rives and Harvey Davis.
