*Obituary
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Wheeler Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock for Mrs. Jess Swetnam of Briscoe, who died Saturday morning at 11 o'clock.
Mrs. Swetnam moved to Wheeler County in 1927 from Childress, and has resided here since. She was a member of the Briscoe Baptist Church.
Lettie May Thompson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Thompson and was born August 11, 1892 in Jack County, Texas. She was united in marriage Dec. 28, 1908 to Jess Swetnam. To this union were born five children all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Sylvia Cross, of Raisin City, California (who was unable to attend the funeral); J.C. Swetnam, Fresno, California; Mrs. Reda May Turner, Wheeler; Ela and Jack Swetnam of Briscoe and her mother, Mrs. C.E. Thompson.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Claude Allison, Hammond, Okla.; Mrs. Archie Thornton, Chalk, Texas; Mrs. Hence Roland, Vernon; Mrs. Walter Matheny, of Louisiana; Herbert Thompson, Vernon; Mrs. G.C. Walsh, Hershel and Henry Thompson, all of California. Those living in California were unable to attend the last rites.
Rev. A.C. Wood, former Baptist pastor conducted the services.
Pallbearers were Vernon Sivage, Mit Wilson, Farmer Hefley, R.J. Austin, Hebert Finsterwald, and Dick Powell.
Flower girls were Mrs. Audie Sivage, Mrs. Winnie Wilson, Marie Fulks and Clara Helen Seedig.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery.
