Jesse Austin, 89, of Colorado City, died May 21 in his home.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at Mount olive Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Bracy, pastor of Saint James Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell County Cemetery under direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Austin, a veteran of World War II was born January 5,1894 in Cherokee County and married Gladys Wright in Troupe, Texas on December 31,1917.
He had lived in Colorado City since 1919 and was preceeded in death by his wife in 1963
He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and is survived by one sister, Mary Jamison of Colorado City.

This afternoon at 2 o'clock last rites will be said for Mrs. Gladys Austin, 61, wife of
Jessie Austin.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Church of God in Christ by the pastor, Rev.
Perkins. She was a member of the Church of God In Christ here.
Mrs. Austin died in Simmons Memorial Hospital at Sweetwater at noon Thursday.
She had suffered an extended illness and entered the hospital August 27.
Born In Cherokee County Nov. 1 , 1901, she was married to Jessie Austin in Troop,
December 31, 1917. The couple moved to Colorado City in 1919 and have lived here
since.
Her husband and three sisters survive. They are Mrs. Helen Kirkland of Amarillo,
Gussle Mae Ables of San Angelo and Mrs. Melvin Collins of Jacksonville.
Burial will be in the Mitchell County cemetery with Kiker & Son directing.
