VEGA — Charlotte LaRue Middleton, 72, of Vega died Thursday, April 23, 2015, in Amarillo.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Ken Keller, the Rev. Jim Schmitmeyer and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Charlotte was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Whiteflat to Jasper and Virginia Morris. She grew up in Bovina and after graduating from Bovina High School, she attended cosmetology school and worked as a licensed cosmetologist. She married Fred Acker on Nov. 19, 1961, in Hereford and they lived in Nazareth, where they raised their family. He passed away on Feb. 10, 1987.

She worked for C.R. Anthony Co. in Dimmitt for several years, then worked as a receptionist for Dr. B.H. Lee in Dimmitt until her retirement. She married Bob Middleton on Dec. 7, 1994, and they lived in Vega for the last 21 years. She loved to sew and quilt and enjoyed being a part of a quilting group
for several years. She also loved cooking, baking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Don Morris; and a great-grandson, Luke Matthew Hittson.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Middleton of Vega; four children, Dwayne Acker and wife Anne of Nazareth, Larry Acker of Lubbock, Rex Acker and wife Michelle of Prosper and Sheila Nicholson and Jeff Shaffer of Glen Rose; two stepchildren, Ross Middleton and wife Susie of Bushland and Jim Atwood and wife Kathy of Seminole; a brother, Delbert Morris and wife Tish of Tulia; two sisters, Bonnie Scaff of Bovina and Krita Potts and husband Jay of Friona; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
