Services for Mrs. Anna Lowther, 96, long-time resident of Hereford and Sunday School teacher in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Fred Pugh, assistant pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Mrs. Lowther died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, in Dalla.
Burial will be in West Park Cemetery beside her husband, Albert Lowther, who preceded her in death in 1953.
Mrs. Lowther was born September 22, 1867, in Sagetown, Ill. The Lowthers came to Hereford area about 1918, settling on a farm southwest of town where they lived until about 1940, when they moved into Hereford.
They became active members of the First Christian Church when they first moved to Deaf Smith County. Lowther was an elder in the church and served on the church board. Mrs. Lowther taught a children's class in the church for more than 25 years.
In 1957 she went to Dallas to lived in the Julia Fowler Home, one of the Christian Church's home for the aged. The past few years she has been an invalid there.
Her sole survivor is a niece, Mrs. Verne N. Young, Denver, Colo.
Bearers at the services will be Claude Ricketts, Walter London, Sr., Tom Robinson, Ira Ricketts, John Aiken, and John Robinson.
All services will be under the direction of Gililland Funeral Home.
