WEATHERFORD -- Barbara Sue Miller, 76, beloved mother, grandmother and faithful friend, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Aledo United Methodist Church, Oak & Pecan St., Aledo.

Interment: 11 a.m. Monday at West Park Cemetery in Hereford.

Visitation: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Barbara was born on Feb. 26, 1937 to Grady Hall and Claudine Horn Rogers in Big Spring. She grew up in Hereford, where she met the love of her life, John Robert Miller, and they were married on July 19, 1957. They moved to Albuquerque, N. Mex. while Robert attended pharmacy school, and it was there in Sept. 1959 when God blessed with twin daughters, Debbie and Vickie. After completing school, they moved back to Hereford and opened a drugstore with Barbara's father, Grady Rogers. They moved to Arizona in 1969, where God blessed them with their third daughter, Alyson Celeste. But Texas was their home and in 1981, they moved to Kerrville. Robert died in 1986 after a long battle with cancer, and Barbara and Celeste then moved to Austin and opened a wedding planning business. Barbara moved to Amarillo in 1993 to be close to her parents, Grady and Claudine, and became a realtor. In 2000, she moved to Albuquerque to be close to her young grandchildren, and in 2005 she moved to Weatherford to be close to her older grandchildren.

Barbara loved her family, her friends and her church, Aledo United Methodist Church, and enjoyed numerous activities with them all. She was active in her TLC Sunday School Class, and rarely missed any of her grandchildren's numerous sporting events. She especially loved her volunteer work at the Center of Hope in Aledo and with the Broadway Baptist Agape Meal in Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Hall Rogers; her mother, Claudine Horn Rogers; and her husband, John Robert Miller.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie Sue Purnell and husband, Jeffrey, Vickie Rene Reiley and husband, Philip and Alyson Celeste Abbott; grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas and Chad Purnell and Nichole and Jonathan Abbott; cousins, Mary Cox and Gilbert (Gib) Dickens; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be missed by everyone that knew her and loved her, and is best described by one of her grandchildren, who wrote, "One could not ask for such a strong-hearted, God-fearin, compassionate woman as the grandmother I've been blessed with".
