Barbara Higgins Wilde, 80, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford.
Mrs. Wilde was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Hereford to Claud and Opal Higgins. After retiring from being a teacher's aide for the Head Start Program, she devoted the rest of her time to loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A true daughter of Texas, she loved fiery sunsets and the vast openness of the High Plains. Simple at heart, she found joy in seeing and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Betty Boyd.
Survivors include a daughter, Wynette Leinen and husband Gerald; two grandsons, Derek Leinen and wife Mary Ann and Destin Leinen and wife Stacey; five great-grandchildren, Reagan, Brooks, Mika, Kaylana and Berlen. The family suggests memorials be to the High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-7448.
