Ignacio “Nacho” Hernandez of Big Spring passed away January 14, 2018.
He was born in Coahoma to Antonio and Leonor on April 28, 1938.
He married Olga Ybarra on February 12, 1961.
He was a lifetime resident of Howard County and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He had previously been working for CAT Construction and had also worked for Ray Valencia House Moving. He was a retired auto mechanic by trade.
His hobbies included reading, gardening, shelling pecans and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Olga Hernandez of Big Spring; three sons: Gary Hernandez and wife Jeannie, David Hernandez and wife Rosemary and Adrian Hernandez and wife Amy, all of Big Spring; six grandchildren: Stacey Kuykendall and husband Adam, Vanessa Thompson and husband Joe, David Ignacio Hernandez, Matt Hernandez, Adrian Jacob Hernandez and Annaleigh Hernandez, all of Big Spring; two great grandchildren: Wyatt Kuykendall and Shaylee Kuykendall, also all of Big Spring; two brothers: Arturo Hernandez and wife Linda of Big Spring and Joe Hernandez and wife Helen of Coahoma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean Ramirez and Jane Torres; five brothers: Manuel Hernandez, Willie Hernandez, Emelio Hernandez, Julio Hernandez and Apolonio Hernandez.
Pallbearers will be David Ignacio Hernandez, Adam Kuykendall, Matt Hernandez, Kenney Torres, Luiz Hernandez and Samuel Hernandez.
Vigil service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel. Graveside service with Naval Honors will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Coahoma Cemetery.
