Juanita Smith, 98, of Andrews passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, Texas.
Juanita was born February 1, 1914 to John Riley and Claudia Pearl Bevans. She moved to Andrews in 1937 from Barstow, Texas. She graduated from Texas Women's University. She married Jay Lee Smith March 18, 1938 in Midland, Texas. Jay Lee preceded her in death 1986.
She worked as a school teacher for over 40 years and retired from Andrews Independent school District in 1978. She spoke three languages, English, Spanish and French. Juanita enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Andrews Bridge club.
She liked to travel and really enjoyed trips with her family. She loved to play golf with her husband Jay Lee. She really loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed watching her great grandchildren dance.
She was a longtime member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Lee Clark and husband Phillip of Odessa; Suzanne Goza of Odessa, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
