Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2019 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Dr. Donnie R. Edith was born Edith Adelle Young on October 25, 1916 in Midland, Texas to Raymond Alford Young and Beulah Mae Moseley. She was the 10th of 11 children. After marrying John “Johnny” Ellis Smith on Christmas Day of 1939 in Colorado City, they moved to Fort Stockton, where Johnny was a flight instructor in the Army. They moved to Andrews in 1947, when they bought the Ford dealership, which then became Johnny Smith Motor Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, and her husband on July 19, 1989. Edith was known for her beauty and charm, quick wit, and warmth. She saw to it that music, which required discipline, daily practice, and perseverance was important in our upbringing. We thank her for this wonderful gift which has enriched our lives greatly.

Edith is survived by her 4 children, Becky Henry and husband, Jim, of North Palm Beach, Florida, Jody Parrish of Atlanta, Georgia, Steve Smith and wife, Polly, of Odessa, and Kent Smith of Andrews, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

We would like to personally thank Irma Rivera and Anna Rondan for their wonderful care and love to our mother as her caregivers.

We are all grateful to have had a mother full of wisdom and dedication to her family. She was always there for us, and we think you’re the best, Mama. We love you very much, Becky, Jody, Steve, and Kent.
