ANDREWS -- Services for G.C. "Pete" Taylor, 80, of Andrews, will be 2 p.m. today, October 13, 2006, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, with James Griffin and the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Andrews West Cemetery. Mr. Taylor died October 10, 2006, in Andrews. Born June 11, 1926, (Headstone shows 1924 as year of birth.) in Lydia, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II, pumper for Texaco, barber, and member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Taylor; son, Lynn Taylor; daughters, Cathy Hughes and Sheron Westmoreland; brothers, Morris Taylor and Bill Taylor; and sisters, Faye Pool, Helen Palmer, and Doris Bryan. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the funeral home.

Geneva Catherine Taylor, 93, of Andrews passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Dennis Teeters of First Baptist Church in Eunice, New Mexico officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Geneva was born on April 21, 1925 in Carbon, Texas to James Spence Jackson and Mary Leona Bettis. She was raised in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School in 1943. She graduated from Ranger Junior College with a teaching certificate, and she taught 1st and 2nd grade in Desdemona, Texas. She married George Caleb “Pete” Taylor on June 28, 1946 in Dublin, Texas. They moved to Odessa in 1946 and then to Andrews in 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Gleaner’s Sunday School Class in Andrews. She grew beautiful roses, poured and fired her own ceramics, was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, enjoyed gospel music, and loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 10, 2006, her parents, 2 sisters, Dorothy W. Capers and Gladys Reed, and 3 brothers, William B. Jackson, Edward L. Jackson, and Jewel Gee.

Geneva is survived by her 3 children, Cathy Ainsworth and husband, Ron, of College Station, Sheron Westmoreland and husband, Larry, of Eunice, New Mexico, and Lynn Taylor of Longview, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
