Lyna Faye Horton, 89, of Waco, formerly of Big Spring, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in a Waco nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

She was born February 11, 1924, in Birthright, Texas and married James R. Horton June 28, 1945 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death November 19, 1987.

Lyna attended Elbow schools and graduated from Forsan High School in 1942 as valedictorian. She was a member of Baptist Temple; a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary; a member of Scenic Mountain volunteers since 1988 and active with RSVP and the Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include her son, Kirby Horton and wife, Jan of Waco; her granddaughter, Julie Roberts and husband, Mark and great grandchildren, Drew, Kyle and Lily Roberts all of Waco; one sister, Raenita Ernest and husband, Joe of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Ray and Lucille (Withrow) Dunlap; a grandson, Josiah Roberts and three brothers, J. C. Dunlap, Foy Dunlap and Ray Dunlap.
