Frances Johnson, 81, died peacefully January 19, 2018 in Lubbock, TX at the University Medical Center after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the funeral Home.
Frances was born November 3, 1936 in Sparkman, Arkansas to Chester and Fannie Harrison.
She enjoyed gardening, shopping and going to garage sales with her sister, Zadie Winters.
In high school she played basketball and enjoyed watching local sports teams.
Frances graduated from Sparkman High School and later attended Midland College.
She moved to Big Spring in 1957 where she met Ulis Johnson. They married September 1, 1958 and were married for 59 years.
Frances was an active member in the Church of Christ, working beside her husband, Ulis. Frances loved participating in various church activities such as Lady's Day Programs, Group Singing, and teaching lady's and children's Bible Classes.
She worked for the Headstart Program at Kate Morrison.
She then went to work at the Big Spring State Hospital where she worked until she retired. Along the way she made many life-long friends.
Frances is survived by her husband, Ulis Johnson; four children, Vickie Johnson of Big Spring, Gerald and wife, Doris of Big Spring, David and wife, Cheryl of Carrollton, TX, and Stanley and wife, Sonja of Ft. Worth, TX. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dennis Harrison and Jay Harrison; and two sisters, Mary Moore and Zadie Winters.
