Veda Rose Nichols, 91, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, September 1, 2007, in a local nursing home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Pat Ray, pastor of Prairie View Baptist Church, officiating.

She was born on December 13, 1915, in Estancia, New Mexico and married Charles A. Nichols on October 3, 1931 in Texarkana, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2001.

Mrs. Nichols was a longtime resident of the Fairview Community until moving to Big Spring in 1964.

She was a homemaker who loved her family and pets.

She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, horseback riding, waterskiing, fishing and hunting.

She was a member of Baptist Temple Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jerry Burchell of Big Spring; two grandchildren, Keith Burchell of Big Spring and Vicki Archer and husband, Greg of Midland; one great granddaughter, Kristen Richards of Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Willis Smith and Curtis Smith.
