Michael D. "Mad Dog" Ray, 60, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in a Lubbock hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with his brother, Rev. Pat Ray, pastor of Prairie View Baptist Church, officiating.The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on February 18, 1949, in Big Spring, Texas and married Linda Tindol on June 23, 1972 in Big Spring. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1967. A veteran of the United States Army, he served as a Sergeant in the 4th Infantry Division in Viet Nam from 1969 to 1970. Mike worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1972 to 1993 and then worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for a number of years. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Lark and Jose Olivas of Arlington and Lacy Ray of Midland; his mother, Clema Ray of Big Spring; four sisters & brothers-in-law, Janis and Don Madewell of Universal City, Diane and Douglas Franklin of Hamilton, Helen and Kenny Scott of Big Spring and Mollie and Tom Biddison of Austin; one brother & sister-in-law, Pat, Jr. and Gwen Ray of Big Spring; and numerous nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his father, T. P. Ray. The family suggests memorials to the Viet Nam Memorial, P. O. Box 2854, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2854.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com,
