*Heinrich Jordan was born to Ernst and Lisette Jordan on April 17, 1856, in Fredericksburg Texas. Ernst and Lisette had emigrated from Wehrstedt in the Duchy of Braunschweig (Germany). In October 1856 his family with several other families moved to Upper Willow Creek (now Art [Mason County], Texas).
On January 20, 1880 he married Bertha Leifeste the daughter of Christoph and Christina Leifeste. Rev. J. Kern performed the service. They had ten children. Henry and Bertha began their married life in a one-room cabin on the west bank of Willow creek a mile and a half northwest of Plehweville (Art), Texas.
