Marvel Jane (Janie) Smith, 86, went to her heavenly reward on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Foy Charles Smith, her parents, Marvin and Thelma Pursel, daughter Tina Louise Smith, and brother Dan Pursel.
Janie is survived by her daughter Shirley Smith Brisby and husband, Randy of Big Sandy, daughter Jewel Marie Graham and husband, Shorty of Graham, Texas, sister, Helen Dunnavant, sisters-in-law Barbara Mackey and Wanda Allard all of Gladewater and numerous nieces and nephews. She had five grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and she worked in the Gladewater ISD cafeterias for a number of years before retiring.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at the Big Sandy Church of Christ, Hwy 155 North.
