Mary married, 18 Oct 1869 in Mountain District, Walton Co., GA, Asbury Murrell Camp, a son of Hope Hull Camp Sr and Jane Lindley.
Mother of Harden Hull Sr, William "Hope" Sr, Mamie L, Emory Adicus, Henry McDaniel "Sweetie", Birdie L and Bertrand Haygood Camp.
Granddaughter of William Haygood & Mary "Polly" Stroud and Samuel Locklin & Celia Zachry.

CAMP, Mrs. A. M. "Aunt Molly or Mammy Camp" of San Gabriel Comm. Age 89. Died Jan. 8th (Sunday) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hood Caldwell, near Rockdale. Services held from San Gabriel Christian Church. Burial in Locklin Cemetery. Rev. W.R. Willis, former pastor of Methodist Church, Thorndale, and Rev. H.E. Crone of the Christian Church at Rockdale. Grandsons were pallbearers: Felton Camp, Hope Camp, Jr., Emory B. Camp, LaTellier Camp, Welden Caldwell, Murrell Camp, and Ike Camp.
She was BORN in Atlanta, Georgia to Hardin & Betsy Haywood. "Close to 90, she was, her last birthday, August 4th, making the passing of the 89th milestone on life's journey." Married A.M. Camp on 10/28/1869, in Mountain District, Walton Co., GA. and for 69 years, she and Mr. Camp trod life's pathway together, the first years of marriage being spent in their native Georgia. Came to Texas in 2/1888 and settled on the Williamson-Burnet County lines. The family later moved to the Locklin Comm. on Thorndale side of the river. In 1891 moved across the river to the present homestead. She was beloved by all that knew her.
SURVIVORS: Hope & Hardin Camp of San Gabriel, Emory Camp of Rockdale, Henry Camp of Thorndale, Bert Camp of Temple, Birdie Camp Amason (Mrs. Howard Amason) of Roswell, NM., and Mamie Camp Caldwell (Mrs. Hood Caldwell) of Rockdale.

Mrs. A. M. Camp
of San Gabriel Dies

Mrs. A. M. Camp, of San Gabriel, died at the suburban home of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Caldwell near Rockdale, at 6:40 o'clock Sunday morning, following a prolonged illness. The body rested in the Caldwell home until 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, when under escort of her family and a large cortege of friends it was conveyed to the Christian church at San Gabriel where the religious services were held.
As the casket was borne into the church by the eight grandsons, Mrs. Smith Summerlin played softly on the violin, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. L. C. Butts of Thorndale. An embankment of handsome floral offerings within the altar formed a beautiful background for the casket which rested in front of the chancel, while sprays of flowers continued along the side walls of the building and in the entrance vestibule. The Reverend H. E. Crone, pastor of the Rockdale Christian church, and the Reverend W. R. Willis of Fairfield, former Methodist pastor [continued on page 8 - CAMP] at Thorndale officiated. Both paid fitting tributes to this beloved woman. As the services were concluded at the church the sun broke through the cloudy sky, as if in benediction. Interment followed in historical Locklin cemetery near San Gabriel.
Mrs. Camp was born in Georgia, August 4, 1849, and therefore lacked only a few months of being 90 years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hardin Haygood, pioneers of the state of Georgia and was a niece of Addicus Haygood, a noted Bishop of the Methodist church of the day. An aunt, Miss Laura Haygood was an early-day Methodist missionary to China.
Sixty-nine years ago last November she was married to A. M. Camp, also a native of Georgia. The couple came to Texas and settled at San Gabriel fifty years ago, where they had continued to reside, and where they reared their family. Mrs. Camp is survived by her husband, A. M. Camp and seven children as follows: H. H. Camp and W. H. Camp of San Gabriel; E. A. Camp of Rockdale; H. M. Camp of Thorndale; Bert Camp of Temple; Mrs. R. H. Caldwell of Rockdale; and Mrs. Howard Amason of Roswell, New Mexico. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Probably no death in that community has ever created more genuine and widespread sorrow than that of this noble woman, whose sphere of activity and influence spread far beyond the confines of her own family and left an impress for good upon all with whom she came in contact. Hers was the life of a noble, consecrated Christian gentlewoman of the pioneer type, that withstood all adversities and served as a benediction to family and friends. Hers was a full and useful life; and a successful life, measured in terms of service and love and sympathy and understanding. And it was a satisfactory life as well, for she lived to rear a large family of men and women of high character and splendid citizenship. God was good to her, too. He permitted her to live a life of full fruition and to receive the constant adulation of her children, and in her old age that degree of love and honor and attention from those children that makes a mother's heart sing with joy and with praise to her Creator. And He was good to her also in that He did not call upon her to bury any of those children, but on the contrary permitted all of them to be with her in her last hours.
Truly, a good woman has gone to her reward.
