MRS. MARY HEITMANN FUNERAL HERE THURSDAY

Mrs. Mary Heitmann, 70, pioneer resident of Milam county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wallace Underwood, at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, May 31, 1941, near Gause.
Mrs. Heitmann had been in critical health for a number of years and died from a heart ailment and other illnesses from which she had suffered for a long period of time.
Until two years ago she had made her home at Hoyte where the family moved in 1916 from their old home near Ad Hall. The Heitmann home at Hoyte was destroyed by fire several years ago but Mrs. Heitmann rebuilt a small home and continued to live there until her health became so critical she could not live alone.
Funeral services will be held at St. Monica's church in Cameron at 9:30 a. m. Thursday, June 1, 1941. Rev. George J. Duda, Pastor, will read the Funeral Mass. Interment will be made in the Catholic Cemetery at St. Monica's with the Green Funeral Home directing arrangements. The body will remain at the Green Funeral Home until 9 a. m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.
Mrs. Mary Heitmann was born in Austria. Her maiden name was Mary Gerick and she came to America with her parents when she was only about 8 months old. The Gerick family settled at Ad Hall and the homestead there has been in existence almost 70 years. A brother, Joe Gerick, lives at Ad Hall.
She was married to John L. Heitmann in Cameron by the late Father Bienemann, pioneer pastor of St. Monica's church. Her late husband who died in 1928 was a native of Ohio. The family moved to the Hoyte community in 1916.
The Heitmann family for almost 3 quarters of a century has been prominent in this county. The death of Mrs. Heitmann removes from the ever lessening role of the pioneers a name which will be remembered for its association with the early progress of the county. There are only four survivors of the Gerick family and they are three sisters and one brother as follows: Mrs. Annie Hanke of Coleman; Mrs. Louis Morbitzer of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Agnes Horelica of San Antonio and Joe Gerick of Ad Hall.
Mrs. Heitmann mothered a family of 13 children. A son, Louis Heitmann died in 1924 and one daughter, Annie Heitmann died about 38 years ago. Surviving children are: George Heitmann of Houston; Frank B. Heitmann of Cameron, widely known citizen; Henry Heitmann of Houston, Joe Heitmann, engaged in the oil business in Venezuela, South America; W. G. Heitmann, Cameron business man; Leo Heitmann, Cameron; Ben Heitmann of Houston; Ed Heitmann of Ohio; Mrs. Jesse Doss of Cameron; Mrs. Ruth Randall of California, and who was the first student nurse to enroll at Cameron Hospital when it was established by the late Dr. W. R. Newton; and Mrs. A. Allison of Buckholts.
Joe Heitmann of Venezuela, Mrs. Randall and Ed Heitmann of Ohio will not be able to attend the funeral.
