Clara "Merle" Howard, 99, longtime resident of Borger passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am. Thursday February 18, 2016 at the Church of Christ at Borger with Mr. Richard Kasko of the Fritch Church of Christ and Mr. Denny Sneed of the Church of Christ at Borger officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm. Wednesday February 17, 2016 at the funeral home.
Merle was born December 16, 1916 in Kemp, Oklahoma to John Howard and Birdie Jane (Williams) Wilson. She married Hubert "Doc" Howard on the Carpenters Bluff Bridge in Oklahoma September 9, 1933. Merle was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ at Borger.
Merle was preceded in death by her husband Hubert "Doc" Howard May 16, 1989, parents, son David Lee Howard August 29, 1996, grand-daughter, Leeah Howard October 28, 1998, and her great-grand-daughter, Chanie Wheeler January 29, 1998.
Survivors include her two sons, Danny Lynn Howard and wife Brenda of Cove, Arkansas, Dennis Howard and wife Debbie of Stinnett; four daughters, Patricia Overby and husband Lloyd of Dill City, Oklahoma, Lela Jane Hynes, Myrna Sue Nickens, Reba Ann Tucker and husband Jerry all of Borger; 16 grand-children, 28 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
