*Obituary
Former longtime Phillips and Borger resident Robert Dial King, 97, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains with Richard Kasko, minister of the Fritch Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. King was born Mar. 13, 1907, in Flippin, Ark. He was a supervisor for Phillips Petroleum Company and a member of the Church of Christ at Borger. He married Verdell E. Shults on Sept. 22, 1934, in Weleetka, Okla. He was a resident of the Craig Methodist Retirement Community in Amarillo.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Verdell E. King on June 11, 1999, and two sons, Robert "Bob" King and Phillip King, both in 1995.

His survivors include a brother, Carl King of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters-in-law, Lois King of Bartlesville, Okla. and Joyce King of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Hunter of Borger, Pauline Moore of Dumas; Pat Fleming of Perryton, and Viola Taylor of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Dianne Martinez and Joanne Mabry, both of Bartlesville, Okla.; Dial Jay King of Danbury and Kassie King of Austin; and five great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Larry Hunter, Eric Robert Martinez, Rick Martinez, Martin Mabry, Dial Jay King, Garry Hunter, and Ryan Mabry. Honorary bearers will be Casey Hunter, Rex Yoder, Leroy Pendleton, and Carl King.
