July 11, 1928 - July 23, 2014

Jean Mills, 86, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Borger. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday at the funeral home in Fritch. Her memory may be honored with a gift the First United Methodist Church of Fritch or to the Sunshine Senior Citizens in Fritch.

Jean was born July 11, 1928, in a town that no longer exists, Three Sands, Oklahoma to O.C. and Gertrude Lallement. She graduated from Perryton High School and West Texas State College. Ms. Mills was a teacher for over 30 years retiring from Sanford Fritch Independent School District in 1994. She was a member of Texas Classroom Teacher Association and retired Teachers Association. Jean enjoyed going to the cabin in Eagles Nest, New Mexico, snow skiing, water skiing as well playing bridge and was a member of various bridge clubs. She served as secretary and treasurer for the Sunshine Senior Citizens Club in Fritch. A member of First United Methodist Church of Fritch she also served as financial secretary for the church. Being an educator it was a must that every grandchild have a map and atlas, as well as a social studies lesson wherever they happen to visit on vacation.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Mills; and brother, Jack Lallement.

Survivors include her daughters, Janice Cross and husband, Nick of Henderson, Nevada, Denise Donnell and husband, Steve of Bushland; six grandchildren, Lindsey McCrary and husband, Josh of Seymour; Marsha Donovan and husband, Curtis of Bushland, Nicole Cross of Henderson, Nevada, Matthew Cross and wife, Jennifer of Damascus, Maryland, Karen Lavongsar and husband, Josh of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lorie Cross of Henderson, Nevada; six great grandchildren, Cohen, Danielle, Mason, Riley, Rodney, Ava; sister, Dana Nimmo of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
