Marvin Dee Moore
February 6, 1927 - September 28, 2017

Marvin Dee Moore, 90, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Celebration Family Church. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to Cal Farley's, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174 or to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St, Dallas, TX 75219.

Marvin was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on February 6, 1927 to R.D. and Florence Kelley Moore. He was 10 years old when his parents moved their family to Fritch. He attended grade school in Fritch and graduated from Phillips High School in 1944.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in Amarillo on February 3, 1945. He went overseas July 27, 1945, and served his country aboard the LST873 in the South Pacific during World War II. He returned to the States on June 2, 1946 and was discharged at the rank of motor machinist mate 3rd Class, August 9, 1946. He was called back to active duty on May 3, 1951 and was sent to the Island of Kwajalein (Marshall Islands). He was then discharged again on August 3, 1952.

After Marvin was discharged, he returned to Fritch and was the owner operator of Moore's Service Station until he sold it in December of 1954. He joined the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 196, January 11, 1957. He received his 50th year membership certificate on January 11, 2007. He worked as a welder for Texas Sulfur Products Company for 20 years until he retired in 1992.

He was a member of Billy Dixon Lodge #1369. He received his Entered Apprentice Degree on September 16, 1963. He was passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft on November 18, 1963 and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason December 19, 1963. Marvin was extremely proud to be honored as a 50 year Master Mason. He served as Worshipful Master of Billy Dixon Lodge #1369 in the Masonic year of 1966 to 1967. He served as treasurer for many years, District Deputy Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas in 2011 and served as Chaplain until his death.

He met Betty June Luttrell at Heard and Jones Drug Store in Borger in 1954 and they married on February 19, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico. He then became the loving father of a seven year old son, a five year old daughter and a two year old daughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 31 years; sister, Christine Ketchum; brother, Clarence ''Buster'' Moore; daughter, Belinda ''Sissy'' Gail Sims; son, Robert Lee Moore; and great grandson, Henry Daniel Hopkins.

Survivors include his daughter, Hope Hughes and husband, Steve of Fritch, Kelly Dee Lorenz and her husband, Larry of Fritch, Sherill June Trammell and her husband, Rick; daughter-in-law, Martha Moore of Fritch; grandchildren, Shawn Moore and Christi Williams, Shane Hughes and his wife, Rachel, Gabriel Sims and his wife, Kristal; DeeAnna Treadwell and her husband, James; Cody Sims, Marcy Hopkins and her husband, Brandon; Matthew Trammell; Wesley Hughes and his wife, Shasta; Brandi Kulczycki and her husband, Jesse; Dustin Hughes and Christina Haiduk; Neal Lorenz and his wife, Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Devin Moore, Ashley Hansen and her husband, Doug, Zackary Treadwell, Collin Treadwell, Hunter Hughes, Heather Hughes, Brayden Treadwell, Garrett Hopkins, Casen Kulckycki, Colby Kulckycki, Hazel Hopkins, Wyatt Lorenz, Harper Hughes, Grayson Hughes, Holden Hughes; great-great-grandchildren, Bradlyn Moore, Zoii Moore, Draxton Hansen, Axlann Hansen; niece, Janet Dickerson; and nephew, Jay Lynn Moore and his wife, Annette.
