Nancy L. Brawley
December 30, 1933 - October 14, 2020

Nancy (Akin) Brawley, formerly of Borger, passed away in Plano, Texas on October 14, 2020.

She was born on December 30, 1933 in Borger, Texas to Joseph Franklin and Vivian (Rodgers) Brawley [sic]. She graduated Phillips High School in 1952 and was the first person to walk across the stage at the new Phillips High School after a fire destroyed the original high school.

On April 4, 1958, in Borger, Texas, Joe Lynn Brawley and Nancy Akin were married. They were married for 51 years until Joe passed away in 2011.

From 1952-1954, Nancy served in the United States Navy as a Corpswave. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Mahlon Ingham from 1972- 1985. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Borger. Nancy was an avid bird watcher and spent many happy moments watching the birds come to feed at her bird feeders.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Joe (2011); her brother, John R. Akin (1986); her mother, Vivian Akin (1985) and her father Joseph F. Akin (1972).

Left behind to cherish her memory are 2 sons: David Brawley of Borger, Texas and Stephen Brawley and wife Angie of Lewisville, Texas; a grandson, Braxton Brawley of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Bailey Brawley of College Station, Texas and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Akin of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mrs. Brawley will lie in state at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains, 206 W. 1st Street, Borger, on Friday, Oct 16 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM and on Saturday, Oct 17, from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

Graveside services will be held at Highland Park Cemetery, Borger on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM.

Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Borger.
