WHEELER, Aug. 23 (Special) - Lennie W. Newkirk, 76, died at 11 a.m. today at the Thomas Rest Home in Wellington.

Mr. Newkirk came to Wheeler from Jacksboro in 1928 and farmed six miles southeast of Wheeler until failing health caused his retirement. He was a member of the Kelton Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wheeler Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Hawn, pastor of the Kelton Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Frank Ross.

WHEELER, Sept. 24 - Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Bess Newkirk, 72, were held at 10 a.m. today in the Wheeler Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Weldon of Plainview officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Frank Ross.

Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery under direction of Kirk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Newkirk died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the Shamrock Hospital after suffering a stroke earlier in the day.

She was a longtime resident of Wheeler and was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, L.W. Newkirk of the home; five sons, M.L. of Wheeler, Rex of Pantex, Ford of Shamrock, T.C. of Gravett, Ark., O.E. of Las Cruces, N.M.; three daughters, Mrs. Linnie Raymond of Wheeler, Mrs. Essie Grimes of Shamrock, Mrs. Roma McCoy of Portales, N.M. and 36 grandchildren.
