*Obituary Will T. Smith
W.T. Smith, Thirty-Year Resident, Died Last Week

William T. Smith, affectionately known as "Red" Smith by every inhabitant of this community for the past thirty years, passed away at his home seven miles east of Hereford last Saturday., December 8. His death followed several weeks after an emergency operation, for the effects of which he never fully recovered.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. V.M. Cloyd, assisted by Rev. Jas. T. Ross. The body was laid to rest in Hereford Cemetery with the following pall bearers: Lee Lambert, Cecil Walker, Art Grimes, Sam Hutson, H.G. Conkwright and Lester Galley.

Mr. Smith was fifty-five years of age. He came to this county from Carroll county, Tennessee, thirty years ago. At that time his home and those of Troy Womble, R.H. Norton and Mr. Moreman were the only dwellings west of Main Street. For the first seven years here he ran a dray line, then contracted and did carpenter work for several years. For five years he conducted a service car line in the city, after which he went on his farm east of town and established a reputation as a successful grower of farm crops adaptable to this locality.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Easter Smith, four children and two brothers. The children are Guy N. Smith, Mrs. John Renfro, Mrs. Corene Kelly, and Miss E. Dora Smith. The brothers are J.S. and D.W. Smith, both of Huntingdon, Tennessee. J.S. Smith was here for the last rites.
