Vevagene "MeMa" Williams, 78, of San Angelo and formerly of Big Spring went to be with our Lord on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Calvary Callender, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

Veva was born on December 17, 1932 in Fairfax, Oklahoma and married Don Williams, also of Big Spring, on July 16, 1953. She moved to Big Spring as a child where she resided until she and her husband, Don, moved to the Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo in October 2010. Veva attended Big Spring schools and graduated from North Texas University with a degree in education. She taught in public schools for 26 years prior to her retirement. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Big Spring. Veva was very active as a teenager in Rainbow Girls and attained the state position of Grand Worthy Advisor. Veva loved to travel with her husband, Don, especially to the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. She also loved traveling to the Texas Hill Country to view the wildflowers in the spring. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch at her home south of Forsan looking at all the wildlife. She also enjoyed reading, especially books about Biblical heroes and her Lord, Jesus Christ. She loved making quilts with her quilting group in Big Spring.

Her family was first and foremost to her. She really enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Don Williams of San Angelo; daughters, Cindy Brooks and husband, Dean of San Angelo and Kay Sauls and husband, Don of Odessa; four grandchildren, Leslie Gentry, Blake Alderton, Terry Sauls and Kayla Sauls; five great grandchildren, Kelsey, Shawn and Haley Harris and Faith and Paige Gentry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. B. and Ruth Apple.

The family suggests memorials be made to In Touch Ministry, Atlanta, Georgia.

Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
