When William Rash was born in 1837 in Alabama, his father, Laxton, was 33 and his mother, Elmira, was 25. He married May S. Ditmore on October 24, 1868, in Jackson, Alabama. They had eight children in 27 years. He died on January 30, 1916, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Peacock, Texas.
