STINNETT - Edgar V. Williams, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1996 in Veteran's Hospital in Amarillo.

Mr. Williams will lie in state at Brown's Memorial Chapel in Stinnett until service time.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Stinnett with the Rev. Orville Rogers, pastor First Baptist Church in Stinnett, officiating.

Burial will be by Brown Funeral Directors.

A native of Santa Fe County, N.M., he had been a Stinnett resident for 70 years. He was retired owner of Williams Phillips 66 in Stinnett. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corp.

He married Margaret Strother on April 3, 1950 in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Henry H. Williams of Eagle, Wis.; a daughter, Leanna Cole of Canyon; and two grandchildren.

Margaret Blanche Strother Williams, 80, of Amarillo, formerly of Stinnett, died Thursday, May 4, 2006.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stinnett Cemetery in Stinnett with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Williams died Thursday in Amarillo after a brief illness.

Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 12, 1925, in El Paso to Hiram and Blanche Meredith Strother. She spent her childhood in West Virginia before coming to Stinnett, graduating from Stinnett High School in 1945.

Margaret married Edgar Verne Williams in Stinnett in 1950. They owned and operated the Gulf service station there. She also worked for the ASCS office in Stinnett, where she worked with many farmers in the region. Margaret and Edgar were active ham radio operators with friends around the world. She was also a member of Eastern Star for many years. After her husband's death in 1996, Margaret moved to the Continental Retirement Center in Amarillo. She later lived at the Harrington Assisted Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Lloyd, Charles and Frederick Strother.

Survivors include a son, Henry Williams and wife, Susie, of Eagle, Wis.; a daughter, Leanna Cole and husband, Steven V., of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Strother and wife, Frances, of Nederland; two grandchildren, Amy Williams and Di of Austin and Shawn Williams and Krista of Waukesha, Wis.; a cousin, James W. Strother and Lady of Keyes, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.

The body will be available for viewing from Monday until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Borger.
