Longtime Borger civic leader Ed Turner, died Friday at an Amarillo hospital. He was 82.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Home.

A native of Kosciusko, Miss., he had been a Borger resident since 1946.

Mr. Turner was the founder of the Ed Turner Agency and a former employee of Davis Chevrolet. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.

He was also a member of the Borger Noon Lions Club, a trustee of the Girl Scout Little House, former board trustee for High Plains Baptist Hospital, and former State Director of the Texas Association of Realtors.

He was also a former president of the Borger Board of Realtors, and a former trustee of the Board of Regents at Frank Phillips College.

Mr. Turner also served as a board member for the Borger Independent School District Board of Directors, was a former member of the Salvation Army Board, was a former board member for the American Red Cross and was active in Boy Scout work for 47 years.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel; one son, E.W. "Butch" Turner of Borger; one daughter, Linda Hooper of Wichita Falls; one sister, Lillian Crowley of Lancaster and four grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army.
