A 50-year-old Borger man apparently fell 12 feet to his death Sunday afternoon at the Phillips Petroleum Co. Borger Refinery and NGL Petroleum Process Center, Phillips.

Dead on arrival at North Plains Hospital was Donald O. Wilson, 50, of 10 Rickman Heights. He was pronounced dead by physicians at the hospital.

Phillips spokesman Pete Warren said Wilson, an operator at the plant, was found lying below an elevated pipe-lane by an unidentified co-worker. He apparently fell from the pipe-lane and struck his head.

"It's guesswork," said Warren, when queried about exact events involving Wilson's death. "We don't know what happened. Apparently he had been working on the pipe-lane."

Wilson was discovered by the co-worker about 3:45 p.m., Warren said.

A Phillips ambulance was summoned, and Wilson was rushed to the hospital. It was not known whether he was alive or dead before reaching the hospital.

Hutchinson County Sheriff's officers said the death was apparently an industrial mishap, and no investigation was being made this morning.

Wilson had been employed by Phillips for about 18 years. He was a member of the Gardner Street Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardner Street Church of Christ, with J.R. Chism officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park, under direction of Simpson Funeral Home of Borger.

Survivors include two sons, Benny of Liberal, Kan., and Burl, a student at Southwestern College, Weatherford; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Barbour of Borger and Mrs. Clara Rine of Liberal; four sisters, Mrs. Merle Howard and Mrs. Bernice Conner of Borger, Mrs. Alma Ricks of Hendricks, Okla., and Mrs. Marie Evans of Kemp, Okla.; five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be C.H. Sparks, P.I. Hunsaker, W.T. Delosier, Bill Philips, Cyburn Nicholas, and Gene Stowers.
