Lewis Calvin Wright age 94 passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Ambassador Courtyard Assisted Living facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Lewis was born in Kingsmountain, North Carolina to Joel Wesley Wright and Pearl (Carpenter) Wright. He moved to Gastonia when he was small and in 1934 his family moved to Asheville, North Carolina where his father owned the Smoky Mountain Trailways and was part owner of Queen City Trailways in Charlotte. After graduating from Lee Edwards High School he received a Chemical Engineering degree from North Carolina State University. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. During World War II, Lewis was associated with making the Atomic Bomb in Oakridge, Tennessee. He continued his education and obtained a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. In January, 1957 Lewis was offered a position with Phillips Petroleum Company as a chemical engineer in Borger, Texas. His family joined him in June the same year.
He is survived by his wife, his son and his wife; his daughter and her husband; his sister; and five grandchildren.
Some of the organizations Lewis participated in were Junior Chamber of Commerce, Executive Club, Bittmore Forest Country Club, North Carolina State University Alumni Association, American Chemical Society, First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Bowling Team, Administration Board, Texas Tech Dad's Association, Knife and Fork Club, Borger Stamp Club, Borger Country Club and Meals on Wheels.
He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, photography, stamp collecting, music and traveling. He stayed active in the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his community and the room it has given his family to grow.
Arrangements were entrusted to Daniel C. Schaudt of Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service & Cremation Care.
