Funeral services for Alva James Griffin, 73 long-time resident of Borger, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Jim Tracy, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.
Griffin, a retired operator for Phillips Petroleum Co., died in North Plains Hospital Thursday at 3:30 p.m. following a 24-day illness there. He had been a member of the First Christian Church of Stinnett and was born in Lonewolf, Okla., April 6, 1894.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Idell Sherwood of Elk City, Okla., Mrs. J.B. Mills, Mrs. Ozell Carter, Margaret Carter of Philview; three sons, William of Borger, James of Amarillo and Jackie of Pinesville, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Boyd of Dallas and Mrs. Jewell Morganthyler of Waco; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Saturday's services will be T. Gaddis, W.R. Flaugher, R.F. Washburn, T.E. Farmer, D.A. Coffey and V.M. Johnson.
