Raymond Gilbert Moore
January 11, 1949 - February 14, 2016

Raymond G. Moore of Borger, died February 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Riverview Baptist Church with Jake Minton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Raymond Gilbert Moore was born January 11, 1949 in Phillips, Texas to Joe and Chris Moore. He was a 1968 graduate of Borger High School. Upon graduation, Raymond worked at Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Company. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. Raymond was glad to return home on his 22nd birthday. Because of the time differences, he was able to celebrate two birthdays that year! Also, on that same day he was discharged from the Army.

Raymond married Sherry Smith of Borger on August 21, 1971. The couple moved to Phillips, Texas where Raymond began his career at Phillips 66. He was a welder for 37 years and retired from Conoco Phillips in 2007. After retirement, he began working at Frank Phillips College in the welding department. He worked at the college for 5 years.

Raymond was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed baseball, softball, golfing and riding his motorcycle. Raymond and Sherry also loved to go camping with their travel trailer, but Raymond's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Chris Moore, a sister, April Thompson, and a sister-in-law Nancy Stout.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sherry, of the home, A daughter, Christy Campbell and husband, Brandon, of Pampa. Two sons, Ray Moore and wife, Brandi, and Denny Moore, Marissa Moore and Beth Burns all of Borger a sister, Sylvia Witt, of Borger brother Charles Moore of Denver, Colorado. A brother in law Larry Smith and wife Evie of Erie, Colorado grandchildren Tray, Tatum, Elle, DJ, and Collin. Numerous nieces and nephews and a special cousin Greggo Dunham and wife Kathy of Belton, Texas.

Donations may be made to West Texas Elementary Library in Stinnett.
