BRONSON--Dennis Elmer Holt, 79, Wheeler, Tex., banker and one of the founders of the Mutual Telephone company here, Bronson's first telephone exchange, died at (3 or 8:15 a.m. ) today at the hospital in Pampa, Tex. He had been a patient there since May 18, following a fall at his home in which he suffered a broken leg.
Holt left Bronson for Texas in 1909. He and a son, Robert J. Holt, have operated a bank at Wheeler for many years and have had cattle and oil interests there. Mr. Holt was prominent in civic and community affairs in the Wheeler area.
Holt was born near Uniontown, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Holt. During his early manhood he was for a time a butcher at Bronson. Later he and his brothers founded the telephone company.
His wife died three years ago. Surviving are three sons, Robert J. of Wheeler, Clarence of Borger, Tex., and Demaris of Pampa, and a daughter Miss Clarice Holt, Fort Worth. two daughters and a son are deceased. A brother, Marshall Holt of Uniontown, and a sister, Mrs. Jim McKinnis of Walsh, Colo., also survive.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at Wheeler and interment will be in the cemetery there.
